Johnny Miller is a Cape Town, South Africa-based photographer who used drone technology to show just how divided his country is among socioeconomic lines.
South Africa, even in this post-apartheid era, is know to suffer from inequality on a massive scale.
Using his medium of photography, Miller showed the actual, physical lines demarcating the rich and poor throughout the country.
He says, “Discrepancies in how people live are sometimes hard to see from the ground. The beauty of being able to fly is to see things from a new perspective to see things as they really are. Looking straight down from a height of several hundred meters, incredible scenes of inequality emerge.
He says that during apartheid, many cities were specifically designed with separation in mind.
During Apartheid, racial segregation was enforced by law.
